At least two local breweries have dedicated a beer to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Yup, Bullfrog Creek Brewing Co. in Valrico and St. Pete Brewing Co. were so impressed by Fitzpatrick and his, well, FitzMagic, to put it simply, that they decided to name their new releases after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ current, and hopefully future starting, quarterback.
St. Pete Brewing’s “Fitzmagic” is a double IPA brewed with Citra and Galaxy hops, while “Ryan FitzGregor” is Bullfrog Creek Brewing’s sour IPA run through raspberries and habaneros.
FitzMagic came to a head earlier this week after Fitzpatrick led the Bucs to a 2-0 record. But then the quarterback walked into Sunday’s postgame news conference swagged out with wide receiver DeSean Jackson’s sunglasses, jacket and gold necklaces — looking like MMA champion Conor McGregor — and social media was totally under his spell.
“A little hot, a little sweet and a whole lotta wonderful,” wrote Bullfrog Creek Brewing of its sour IPA (or was the brewery talking about Fitzpatrick?) in a Facebook post on Monday, adding: “Keep the magic going.”
On Tuesday, St. Pete Brewing also made a Facebook update, sharing why its double IPA pays homage to Fitzpatrick.
“We here at the brewery believe that a man that passes for 4 touchdowns and 400 yards in the first two games of the season deserves a beer named after him,” St. Pete Brewing wrote. “Not to mention his beard rivals [head brewer Jon McCracken’s].”
Can’t argue with that.
