St. Pete's Beans & Barlour is partnering with Brugal 1888 rum to attempt the Guinness World Record for “most people scooping ice cream simultaneously” on July 18—National Ice Cream Day—at Al Lang Stadium, 230 1st St SE.
Tickets to the event are required, but you can find them for free here. You can bring the kiddies along, but only if they’re 10 and up. The event starts at 11 a.m.
Event participants will receive a free Brugal 1888 “welcome cocktail,” along with a boozy ice cream infused with the same rum and a commemorative ice cream scoop. You can also expect non-alcoholic and dairy-free options to choose from.
If you’re looking for another way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day across the bay, parents and kids of any age can meet Ilene Lieber, author of “Zoey’s Adventures to the Ice Cream Shop,” and the pup star herself, Zoey at Sea Maids Creamery in Tampa, 4230 N Florida Ave. in Seminole Heights.
The Sea Maids event runs from 2-5 p.m. and copies of the book will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds is going directly to Pet Pal animal shelter in St. Pete.
