After an employee tested positive for COVID-19, Jannus Live says it will temporarily close Pelican Pub, the Landing and Detroit Liquors.

In a Tuesday afternoon Instagram post, the venue said the closure will allow the three bars to be deep cleaned and sanitized. The post also indicated that Jannus Live will postpone the venue’s opening, and the upcoming show involving Ken Chesney tribute band, Pirate Flag, has been postponed.

“It saddens us greatly as we were so looking forward to bringing back live music,” wrote Jannus Live in the post, “but we believe wholeheartedly this is the right thing for this time and in the best interest of the general public and our staff! Stay tuned for our next steps as we are trying to do what's best for our community each step of the way.”

An employee with Ringside Cafe, which is located between Pelican Club and Detroit Liquors, told Creative Loafing Tampa bay that management is still mulling a decision on whether or not to close.
