If you recently bought cake at any of the 30 Too Jay's delis in Florida, a cashier probably asked you if you wanted to round up your check and donate the change to Feeding Florida. If you said, "Yes," then we've got some news for you.

In the month of September, Sunshine State Too Jay's locations raised $16,000 for the nonprofit, which helps stock local food banks.

“When we all work together, even small donations add up to big support for Feeding Florida,” Max Piet, president and CEO of TooJay’s and board member of Feeding South Florida shared in a statement. “We are proud to support this great organization’s mission to end food insecurity in our state.”

Every dollar donated to Feeding America's initiative provides 11 meals throughout the program's network. No need to do that math either; thanks to the generosity of TooJay's customers, more than 176,000 meals will go toward families struggling with food insecurity. According to a release, a portion of the donation has been set aside to help people in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.

TooJay's Deli has formed a partnership with Feeding Florida in 2017 and has donated nearly $80,000 through various fundraisers.

“We are so appreciative of the TooJay’s team and patrons for their support and continued partnership,” said Robin Safley, Executive Director of Feeding Florida. “With their help we know that we can build a food secure Florida. Food security is imperative to a healthy and thriving Florida.”

Damn, cake really does do the mind, body, soul, and the community good.
