Based on the individual award counts, the competition named a top ten brewery list with Florida Avenue Brewing Co. finishing 9th overall, and Cigar City Brewing was in a three-way tie for 10th.
In a recent statement, Anthony Derby, CEO of Florida Avenue Brewing Co. and Brew Bus Brewing, shared his excitement for his company and placing alongside fellow Florida breweries:
“Three Florida breweries finishing in the top ten is truly a testament to the quality of beer being produced in our state. We’re honored to be listed alongside fellow Tampa brewery Cigar City Brewing and Main & Six Brewing out of Jacksonville along with dozens of individual medals from other Florida breweries.”
Florida Avenue Brewing Co. received individual medals in the following categories:
Gold: Cucumber Berliner Weisse – Vegetable Beer
Silver: Passion of the Heights Hibiscus Wheat Ale – Herb and Spice Beer
Bronze: Florida Avenue Brown Ale – American Brown Ale
Bronze: Neapolitan Berliner Weisse- Experimental Beer
Cigar City took home medals for their signature brews:
Gold: Brandy Barrel Aged Beer – Cyclopaedia
Silver: Experimental Beer – Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout
Bronze: International Style Pale Ale – Guayabera
Now we can go celebrate these wins with brews that are available in our own backyard.
UPDATE: Big Storm Brewing also took home a medal — the Odessa brewery's Tropic Pressure Florida Ale won a bronze in the Herb and Spice Beer category. Congrats!
