This weekend, The Urban Canning Company wants to party with you.

Illene Sofranko's St. Petersburg cannery has been working on its new kitchen at 1040 Fourth St. N. since March. The space, which has already hosted classes on topics like beginner's pickling and sourdough starters (with more in store), will officially debut to the public during a grand opening celebration at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Eight local names — True Craft BBQ, Cigar City Brewing, Green Bench Brewing Co. and Barley Mow Brewing Company, Mother Kombucha, The Bends, Commune + Co. and The Hole Donuts — will provide the bash's craft beer, kombucha, doughnuts, whiskey coffee cocktails and more. Music is also planned.

The Bends will keep the evening going from 9 p.m. to midnight at the after party, where jamtinis will be featured.
