St. Petersburgers of all denominations — we’re talking food, not humans — have started throwing down during the Grand Central District Association’s annual Battle of the Burg(er).
The monthlong competition, which began Aug. 1, lets diners taste their way around local patties served up at select Grand Central eateries, then vote for the tastiest contenders online to crown the People’s Choice (a Judges’ Choice will be awarded, too); this time around, there’s even a separate category for veggie burgers.
Thirteen restaurants make up the participants, including The Burg Bar & Grill, Urban Comfort, Love Food Central, Zaytoon Grill, Community Cafe, NuMex and Old Key West Bar & Grill. Winners are announced Sept. 3.
