Wawa's business model caters to customer convenience as-is, but even more so now that it's added Uber Eats as a delivery option for eight stores across the country. Those stores include the Tampa location at 11510 N. 30th St. and two outposts in Orlando.

This week, the popular on-demand delivery service started taking orders to the doorsteps of residents who live within the Tampa store's coverage area. Uber Eats, as well as Grubhub, is available for most of Wawa's eats, plus a limited number of drinks, chips, candies and desserts.

In a statement, Wawa Delivery Project Manager Steve Hackett said the chain's goal is to introduce delivery to a quarter of its stores by year's end. The service, for now, is offered at 15 locations.

"We are delighted to add Uber Eats delivery service to our offering at these eight locations, making ordering Wawa products faster, easier and more accessible than ever," Hackett said. "Since we began piloting delivery service last fall, feedback from customers on this added convenience has been extremely positive. We're thrilled to reach even more customers in our marketplace through our partnership with Uber Eats, a technology our customers are already using."

Wawa began piloting delivery in late 2017. Since then, weekends and dinner are the most popular time frames for the service, with mac and cheese, hoagies, soups and other sides serving as customer favorites.
