It took me well over 30 years to try collard greens.
I’ll never forget my first: Gillies on Central (RIP) made the best. Once I realized how out-of-this-world delish they were, I went on a collards spree that continues to this day.
Fall in love with — or indulge yourself if you’re already a fan of — collard greens at the second annual Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival. Hosted at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, the fest returns to St. Petersburg from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.
Bonus: The Gullah Diva, Sallie Ann Robinson, will be there.
