Weeki Wachee distillery NJoy Spirits has once again done Tampa Bay a favor by putting on Whiskey in the Woods. Now in its second year, this annual whiskey and rum tasting is hosted deep within the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area — and more affordable than most quaffing events out there.
Whiskey is the Woods takes place from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Highlights include food, beer and wine, in addition to the small-batch, farm-to-table booze from NJoy owners Natalie Joy and Kevin Goff.
If attendees need something other than rum and whiskey to keep them occupied, live tunes by musicians like Matchbox Twenty founding member Kyle Cook provide the main entertainment. However, there's also a lineup of gift baskets, bottles and local vendors to peruse, as well as games and prizes.
General admission ($10) and VIP ($50) tickets are available online. They cost a little more the day of, but that's if there are even any left, and CL knows you're not about to go into the great outdoors unprepared.
A portion of the Whiskey in the Woods proceeds benefits the Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Humane Society of Hernando County and Toys for Tots.
