It’s still a little early, but Bay News 9 is suggesting that Tampa Bay may have dodged any super-spreader potential from the big game two weekends ago. What’s more is that Tuesday’s state data showed Florida’s new positivity rate at 6.5%—still higher than the World Health Organization’s recommended mark of 5%, but slightly lower than the weekly average of 7%. The Tampa Bay Times said that locally, Tampa Bay added 1,006 coronavirus cases and 24 deaths Tuesday (20% of hospital beds and 23% of ICU beds were available, as well).
Piled in with new, more contagious variants, those numbers present hundreds of reasons to stay safe at home, but the local concert scene is finding ways to try and stay on its feet. We’ve marked the gigs at venues that have joined a Tampa-based and city-recognized “Safe & Sound” initiative that pledges to strictly enforce limited capacity, mask wearing and social distancing—and tried our best to explain COVID-19 protocols at venues that not able to join Tampa’s “Safe & Sound” program.
