Promoter Sean O’Brien—under the moniker MNE presents—is back with the popular “Reel Deal” series  pairing cult classic movies with local musicians performing the soundtrack.

The first shot in the re-launch of the monthly event finds the graphic novel-inspired “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” screening at Crowbar.

A crap ton of local musicians including Shawn Kyle, Melissa Grady, Jeremy Gloff, Crate Brothers, Matt Burke, Billy Summers, and Noan Partly perform songs by the likes of Broken Social Scene, Beck and T. Rex.

Most importantly, expect covers of the made-for-the-movie bands like Michael Cera-fronted Sex Bob-omb (“Garbage Truck”) and rivals Crash and the Boys (“I’m So Sad, So Very, Very Sad”). The 2010 Edgar Wright-directed movie plays first first, then it’s showtime for the local musicians.
