New Roman Times, Return to Where You Belong (New Granada Records) This brief collection of the year’s best music is intentionally devoid of local releases and the last-minute stuff that popped up last week (*cough* Trent Reznor), but New Roman Times’ surprise LP is the lone exception. While it’s technically not local music, the nine-track album of indie rock (comprised of shelved tracks that were supposed to make up the follow-up to the band’s 2009 LP, On The Sleeve) is a welcome note from an Austin, Texas band (signed to Tampa’s New Granada records) that left us hanging more than half a decade ago. —Ray Roa
