Are you numb to concert postponements and cancellations yet? As Tampa Bay’s independent live music venues wilt away during each passing week without federal help, the big shows on Tampa Bay’s concert calendar keep getting pushed back or wiped away, too.
Foremost among those postponed Tampa Bay concerts is a September 20, sold-out concert from Alicia Keys, who was supposed to play the new event center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
In a social media post, the 39-year-old Grammy-winner announced the postponement of her entire tour and said her team held on to the dates for as long as possible.
“BUT safety and the good health of my beautiful fam is paramount. Trust me, I cannot WAIT to see you and for all of us to be singing TOGETHER at the top of our lungs, filling the space with our spirits!,” her avatar said, adding that new dates and more information is forthcoming. “In the meantime, please be safe, be patient and I’ll be with you as soon as we can all be together again.”
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's Covid-19 resource page says, "For events that have been postponed, the original tickets will automatically be valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the new date, the same refund process for canceled shows noted above should be followed. Ticketmaster will not automatically process a refund for a postponed show. You must contact Ticketmaster directly. For tickets purchased on property, you will need to wait until the Box Office reopens and provide your ticket to receive your refund."
And Keys ins’t the only act to announce postponements and cancellations in the last few days. The Doobie Brothers rescheduled their show at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre to July 28, 2021 (here’s Live Nation’s latest refund policy). Boomers will also be sad to see Graham Nash re-postpone his concert to April 17 at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre (Ruth Eckerd Hall has explicitly stated its refund policy). And Gaslight Anthem fans can fix their calendars again as the band’s frontman, Brian Fallon, has once again postponed a solo show at The Ritz in Ybor City to December 6.
