Are you so over Warped Tour and looking for an alternative? Or are you a hater who prefers to spend your money on a more affordable and rewarding musical experience that occurs on the same day? How about a local music fan who’d rather support the scene than a nationally touring behemoth that comes to town once a year and turns Vinoy Park into a commercialized youth-filled sweatfest? Or maybe you just want something fun to do on Friday night? If so, Daddy Kool Records and Brokenmold Entertainment co-host the inaugural AntiWarpt Music & Arts Festival, which is spread out over four venues and features such draws as reasonably-priced drinks and air conditioning wherever you stop, a PBR-sponsored art show and 600 Block sidewalk sale, a complete lack of underagers (sorry kids, this is a 21-and-up event), and all throughout, sets of alt rock, Americana, soul, punk, and plenty else performed by more than 20 high-caliber Bay area acts, all for a measly $7 in advance, $10 day of show. To top it off, all pre-sale ticket buyers get a copy of St. Pete’s Outsiderzine — a rag that includes spotlights on bands performing at AntiWarpt — along with a download link to an Mp3 mix of AntiWarpt bands.
