Austin Meade has been known to channel an unusual mix of influences, like Tom Petty and Judas Priest. The 31-year-old Texan’s latest EP “Pretty Little Waist” goes contemporary enough that we just might see him at a 97X Next Big Thing by the end of the decade.

According to a press release, the record really shows off Meade’s “genre-defying mix of soulful storytelling and gritty rock and roll.” A stoner fantasy, indeed. Meade last played locally last year for 98 RockFest.

Do send his year-and-a-half old son—who just had Craniosynostosis surgery, which basically enlarges the skull so the brain has enough space to properly grow—some good vibes, though.

Tickets to see Austin Meade play the music hall Tampa’s New World Brewery on Tuesday, March 11 are still available and start at $18.
