On Simple Things (the Texas-based roots-rock outfit ’s first studio album since 2020), “I Got The Time” is loaded with Mike Campbell-style guitar tones and riffs, “Long Lost Son” sounds like a track from Petty’s first band Mudcrutch, and “Damaged Goods” could easily be a Traveling Wilburys track, if you close your eyes and imagine it’s the late heartland rocker singing.
For all the Southern rock-slash-Americana vibes the Heathens give off, there isn’t a better space to see it perform than the Skipperdome, especially with the veteran-fronted “Americana Folk Country Rock” outfit The Teague Brothers opening.
Tickets to see Band of Heathens play Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa on Friday, Feb. 23 are still available and start at $25.
