Barclay Crenshaw, the artist formerly known as Claude VonStroke is taking a break from dubstep and EDM to explore the process of blending other genres together.

The 53-year-old’s new album Open Channel (named after a shared love of his trucker fatherโ€™s radio and โ€œE.Tโ€ between him and his siblings) probably isnโ€™t worthy of your typical rave as-is, but mixes funk, dubstep, and house music thatโ€™s neither chill or acidic. It features guest spots from the likes of British emcee TeeZandos and Roll Deepโ€™s Manga Saint Hilare, and while we probably wonโ€™t see any of them at Jannus Live this weekend, the newly Christened Crenshaw returns to Tampa Bay for the first time since a 2022 gig at The Ritz Ybor.

Tickets to see Barclay Crenshaw play Jannus Live in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Nov. 30 are still available and start at $30.
