All White Night of Jazz w/The Beatdown Band You usually have to drive out to Brandon to see the Beatdown Band play the Jazz House Supper Club, but here’s a chance to see the outfit perform just north of downtown Tampa. The show at the Tampa Heights’ Community Center is for a good cause, too, since proceeds from the event will go towards helping kids from Tampa’s Young Lions Youth Organization go on a three-day, two-night college tour. Sat., July 6, 6 p.m. $30 & up. Tampa Heights Community Center, Tampa. eventbrite.com.

Tampa Bay Jazz All Stars Jazz bassist Erik Hempel has assembled an ensemble featuring some of the best college and high-school big band players in Tampa Bay. Members hail from as far north as Pasco and as far south as Sarasota, but they’ll all coalesce in St. Petersburg for a debut performance supported by the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association. Classics by Duke Ellington and Count Basie are on the program along with some of the All Stars’ own compositions. Sat., July 6. 7 p.m. $30. Music Center at St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg.
