Beyoncé is in town on Wednesday—and artists are painting murals in her honor—but anyone who doesn’t get in to see Bey should head to another Hive and bow down to some of the city’s best young musicians.

Last May at Perception’s album release, Biishop The Artist nearly stole the show with a powerful vocal that’s juxtaposed to the Tampa songwriter’s youthful appearance.

Just last Friday, Biishop—for fans of Lucy Pearl, Frank Ocean,  Glenn Lewis and Stones Throw Records—shared the talent and an ultra smooth live band with the “Live Music Showcase” on WMNF-Tampa 88.5-FM, and on hump day he’s on a bill featuring another one of the Bay area’s brightest songwriters (Noan Partly), experimental rapper-producer Johnny Champagne and Fever Head, a new jazz band featuring members of local heavyweight Katara.

Tickets to see Biishop the Artist play Hooch and Hive in Tampa on Wednesday, Aug. 16 are still available for $12.
