Robert Cray celebrated his 50th anniversary of showmanship last year by playing select dates with The Doobie Brothers, which makes us wonder if Mr. โ€œSmoking Gunโ€ will appear on the bandโ€™s first album with Michael McDonald in decades.

Itโ€™s been a minute since weโ€™ve heard brand-new material from the 71-year-old blues guitar virtuoso, but with five Grammys and 20 albums under his belt, what does he owe us?

Either way, Cray and his bandโ€”featuring Albert King alum George Sluppick on drumsโ€”return to the Cap for the first time since January 2022, when the Omicron variant of Covid-19 was still a concern.

Tickets to see Robert Cray Band play Bilheimer Capitol Theatre in Clearwater on Thursday, Feb. 20 are still available and start at $37.50.
