The boob tube and silver screen are the focus at this suburban arts center over the weekend when retired music professor Jim Burge—on saxophone and flute—leads his Jazz Directions band in this installment of Carrollwood Cultural Center’s “Jazz With Jim” concert. Keyboardist Ron Delp, drummer Jeff Hanson and bassist Mike Ruven assist Burge in CCC’s return to in-person shows (that does have a virtual component if you ain’t ready to socialize yet).
The show usually comes with personal commentary from the musicians, and if I was in onstage, I’d explain why I sob everytime I hear the “E.T” theme.
