Gasparilla Music Festival has yet to book a punk-leaning band that emerged from its city’s DIY scene, but Hooch and Hive is giving fans of that aesthetic (or any curious souls attending GMF over the weekend) one hell of a Sunday-night after-party instead.

CL last saw Chastity when Brandon Williams brought the band to open for Pup and Cayetana in 2016, and this time the Ontario-based group has a new, righteous album (Death Lust, released last summer via Captured Tracks) to show off. The 11-track album is a carefully sequenced effort that criss-crosses the gamut of guitar rock thanks to hints of shoegaze, indie-pop and post-hardcore; the album also wears all of the desperation and resilience that Williams has observed in the working-class communities of his hometown of Whitby, Ontario.

Two well-loved Bay area rock bands — emo quartet Blacksmith and grunge-gaze trio Sentries — round out a bill that is just a short walk away from the Gasparilla Music Festival grounds.
