When it comes to Christian music, nobody’s bigger than Jesus—Steven Curtis Chapman comes close.

No matter who or what you pray to, you can’t help but feel for one of the highest-regarded names in contemporary Christian music. Chapman’s adopted daughter Maria Sue Chunxi was killed in a driveway accident in 2008, and more recently, Chapman lost a family friend in the Covenant School shooting in Nashville earlier this year.

It would shock no one if the 60-year-old’s creative juices have been flowing thanks to the tragedies he has endured, so in between his mostly apolitical persona, expect a few moments of solemnity during at this stop.

Tickets to see Steven Curtis Chapman play the Duke Energy Center at Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, July 12 are still available and start at $38.
