It’s been a few months since Gainesville’s Tiny Farm released a rollicking debut single (“Berry Neurotic Tinder,” a catchy ode to online dating), and now the trio — brothers Jarred and Zach Randall plus bassist Tim Robson — is back with a second taste of its Tiny Demo EP.
Recorded at Black Bear Studios (the same place St. Pete post-rockers Set and Setting recorded its new LP, Reflectionless), “Boomer Babe” is a three-minute blast of sound that lives up the promise of Tiny Farm’s self-described “oddball-pop” sound. The song — which chronicles Jarred’s search for treasure at one of Boston’s Boomerangs thrift shops — is all kinds of jangly riffs, off-kilter time signatures and quirky vocal phrasing.
Listen to the song below, and see the band when it plays The Bends in St. Pete (June 29 with Stove. and Oxford Noland) or The Hub in Tampa (July 2 with The Spuds and Date Night).
