For a band that’s only been together a couple of years, P.M. Tiger’s sound is mature—and not just because its tunes strongly resemble the early 2000s indie-dance records. I could’ve easily danced to the Clearwater band’s 2020 single “It’s Gunna Hurt” at the old Orpheum during Retro Red Square Recall (you know, smack between Fischerspooner and that mashup of Christina Aguilera and The Strokes). Even P.M. Tiger’s website and super cute merch make the band look like old pros.

Also on the bill is Bad Cameo, another “holy shit, who are these guys?” indie-funk outfit whose grovy “Nina Nina” is my favorite new song. Outside of a few scratch offs here and there, I’m not a betting person, but me thinks there would 100% be someone dancing at this free West River gig if there wasn’t a dancefloor ordinance in place. When national touring kicks back up, both these outfits will likely be in high-demand for local support slots.

P.M. Tiger w/BadCameo. Friday, Jan. 15. 9 p.m. Free. Hooch and Hive, Tampa. INFO
