COEDS just way upped the ante on the ever so common lyric videos bands are releasing these days. Creative Loafing is proud to premiere the clip for a new single from the Savannah, Georgia outfit, who will play three Sunshine State shows in celebration of a new album, Thrill Me!, which will be released on September 2 via Tampa’s own New Granada Records.

“Push” is the opening track of Thrill Me! and follows the release of “Too Cool For School,” which Hissing Lawns debuted in June.

The clip, directed by bassist Jeremiah Stuard, finds COEDS and their friends blazing happily through the song, and the video combines the band’s infectious garage pop with the carefree attitude of other Thrill Me! cuts like “Close Up, Make Up” and “Surf’s Up.”

"COEDS is a very exciting band and a little different than what we've had within the NG family for some time," New Granada co-founder Keith Ulrey told CL in a message. "We couldn't be more excited for this release, which is no. 55 for the imprint." That's a milestone considering the financially trying year the label has had.

"We lost our national distributor for physical product in June; with said distro now being in bankruptcy status, they are holding all product and back several years worth of back-payments. We had to seriously re-evaluate whether we could continue." Ulrey, 44, explained. A distribution deal has been signed with CTD, Ltd in Chicago, and that should help stop the bleeding. Ulrey says physical sales are dropping exponentially so New Granada Presents can't do as many shows to raise money.

"It's been tough, but, CTD, Ltd [was] happy to have us, so we'll see where it goes from here," he said.

"Ive loved COEDS since first booking them at NWB over a year ago. They've been back two more times and Susie and I have loved it more each time. Fun band, great tunes and awesome people."
