Comedic California hard-rock hair band Steel Panther will visit Jannus Live during its Heavy Metal Rules album release tour this fall.
The tour kicks off in L.A. on September 26, a day before the album’s release, and it hits St. Petersburg on October 9. Tickets for the show are on sale now and will cost fans $25.
The first single from the album — “All I Wanna Do Is Fuck (Myself Tonight)” — was released earlier this month alongside a nine-minute bachelor party-themed video that flaunts the band’s unapologetic sex, drugs and rock and roll image. The release of Heavy Metal Rules marks a chance for the foursome to get some positive press after a PR debacle hit the band in 2018. According to FADER, Steel Panther collaborated on a TC Electronic preset guitar pedal sound called “Pussy Melter.”
“When we met up with Steel Panther’s oh-so-humble guitarist, he had only one condition: that the tone be as wet as the ladies on the front row," the description for the effect read.
The name of the effect, not to mention the description placed with it, led musicians like Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast and Raphaelle Standell-Preston of Braid to take to Twitter to criticize the product’s reflection of misogyny within the music industry. The effect has since been discontinued.
