Shawn Gravitt and Chris Bell’s new album Chattanooga Trigger Man doesn’t hit streaming and digital platforms until July 27, but the boys collectively known as Skinny McGee and the Handshakes have been playing gigs in Winter Haven to promote it, with vinyl-only copies available for sale.

“I’ll Ramble On,” which was released last year, has the instrumentation and simplicity of an early Johnny Cash tune, and “Sugarcane Blues” specifically namedrops Tallahassee and Okeechobee, while retaining an outlaw country aesthetic. Local “ass kickin’, beer drinkin’, boot stompin’ rock n’ roll” outfit The Urbane Cowboys opens.

There’s no cover to see Skinny McGee and the Handshakes play Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe in Tampa on Sunday, July 21.
