Canca Arriba, Tamboril is the musical epicenter of the Dominican Republic, and that’s where Zacarías Ferreíra’s story started. The sounds of merengue périco ripiao seeped into the bachata singer from a young age and followed him all the way to the capital of the DR, Santo Domingo where he eventually linked up with a hot local group, Brugal & Compania, which helped Ferreíra launch a solo career that eventually sent his music on the Billboard charts in 2006. He’s in the ‘burbs this weekend if you feel like dancing.
