Surprisingly long-running Canadian pop duo Tegan & Sara (their first independent full-length came out in '99) is generally either loved or reviled by critics and passionate music fans alike. And to be fair, the whole thing is kind of gimmicky — young twin sisters singing first bubblegum folk and later bubblegum pop-rock songs about love and stuff. But the material's good, really good; there's nary a track on the latest full-band effort, So Jealous, that doesn't make you smile, or hum, or relate.
This tour features a power-pop quartet lineup, and I bet even the most jaded music Nazi won't be able to keep the noggin from noddin'. No word at press time on support acts, but there's bound to be at least one.
Tegan & Sara, Saturday, Nov. 26 @ the State Theatre, St. Petersburg. 8 p.m.; $16.50 adv./$17 d.o.s.
