✔️ Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul Steven Van Zandt (actual last name Lento) helped Springsteen pioneer that Jersey Shore sound, and on Saturday the 67-year-old E. Streeter comes to Clearwater with his band the Disciples of Soul in support of a 2017 album of classic rock tunes, Soulfire. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO
✔️ 4th Annual Ramones Tribute w/Boney Fiend/Burlap Jockstrap/Car Bomb Driver/Imminent Riot/Laser Mouth/Saint’s Brigade/The Hey Ho’s/The Jordones/The Scurvy Dunedin Brewery’s tribute to the Ramones is turning into a time-honored tradition, and this early show (starting at 8 p.m.) means that the nearly dozen bands on the bill will have plenty of time to work though many parts of the legendary punk act’s catalog. No cover for this one, either. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin) INFO
✔️ Buckethead To be clear, Buckethead’s newly diagnosed heart problem doesn’t have anything to do with the bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken he wears on his head onstage. The diagnosis, which the reclusive guitarist recently shared with fans, is pretty serious, though. “I have a heart problem where my heart beats out of rhythm. It’s been doing it for a long time, but recently it just really kicked up and became really intense. I really didn’t know what was going on,” the 49-year-old virtuoso said on podcast Coming Alive. Doctors even suggested that he undergo a procedure called an ablation where they go in and freeze a patient’s heart. “I just tried to deal with it and let it do what it did, and eventually it would stop. But it got really intense, so I went to the doctor and they said, ‘You’re on the verge of having a stroke.’” We’re not saying that his mortality should be the reason you go see Buckethead in Ybor, but you can’t say that he didn’t try to tell you that things have been better in the health department. Something Planet 10-Year Anniversary w/Rise Of Saturn/Children of Orion/Bee-Low Brass/The Horny Man & Slim taper/Jon Ditty The Something Planet podcast celebrates a decade of productive babbling by bringing comedy (CL’s very own Michael Murillo is on the bill, and Bay area musician Lauren Lance slings a few jokes as well), rock and rap together for a free party that’ll go very late into the night. (SubCentral at Iberian Rooster, St. Petersburg) INFO
✔️ Dance Party: Devon Brady’s You Can’t Get There From Here Don’t go to this party if you’re looking to snap pics to put on Instagram because cameras and phones are not allowed. CL contributor Gabe Echazabal brings his vast knowledge and music taste to the turntables when this Seminole Heights art space transforms its walls and ceilings into what promises to be a disorienting (and probably delightful) dance-floor experience. Seriously, acrylic mirrors will cover the ceiling of the gallery and be coupled with viewers in belay glasses that will help project images onto the walls, so maybe don’t go if you have vertigo. (Tempus Projects, Tampa) INFO
✔️ Florida Orchestra Masterworks Season Finale: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6w/Javier Perianes This is the St. Petersburg performance of Beethoven’s 1808 ode to nature, the playful dancing of country folk, and the power of thunder and storms. Spanish pianist Javier Perianes returns to the Florida Orchestra to lend two hands, and classical music lovers can also see this show on Friday (Straz Center in Tampa) and Sunday (Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall). (Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO
2nd Annual Rob Cartwright Memorial Music Fest w/The Bearded Brothers/Mustang Mafia/Fast4ward/Nevaeh Peek/Monkeybone/Meltdown Cadillac/The Law/The Embry Brothers/Soul Circus Cowboys/The Black Honkeys It’s been less than two years since the Bearded Brothers Band’s Rob Cartwright was killed in a crash, and his friends have not forgotten him. Several of them — including the Bearded Brothers themselves — will play this memorial show where all proceeds will be donated to Bay area music programs serving underprivileged youth. ✔️ Travis Greene Gospel on a Saturday? Why not, especially when powerhouse vocalist and two-time Grammy nominee Travis Green is on the mic. The 34-year-old singer and pastor has spent a lot of time on the gospel charts, and even cleaned house at last year’s Stellar Gospel Music Awards, where he took home trophies for Song of the Year (“Made a Way”), CD of the Year (The Hill) and Male Vocalist of the Year. (David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa) INFO
Cannabis Corpse Not to be confused with now-Tampa-based death-metal legends Cannibal Corpse. This Virginia-based band features past members of Municipal Waste and GWAR and plays ridiculous marijuana-themed songs like “Every Bud Smoken,” “Staring Through the Eyes That Are Red” and “Papyrus Containing the Spell to Protect Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In the Bong Water.” (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO
Ancient Roots Art Opening w/DJ Wally Clark African and Caribbean culture gets pushed into the light at the hands of Jacksonville’s Christopher Clark and Tampa’s own Terrell Halsey Jr. who is an illustrator influenced by African fashion and traditional African masks. The pair will feed off each other at the opening of Ancient Roots, a Tampa Heights art show where DJ Wally Clark and the S.E.T. producers-collective will soundtrack an open dance session.
