Certified guitar god, Tommy Emmanuel invites you to take a seat—literally—in the Jannus courtyard when he plays downtown St. Petersburg on Friday.

Emmanuel doesn’t sing, but he doesn’t need to. His guitar playing is more layered than most vocalists out there. Listening to the Australian musician’s most successful single “Angelina” brings more serenity and peace to my mind than an hour of yoga class. Throughout his 50-year career, Emmanuel has garnered a couple Grammy nominations, performed at the Olympics and was given the “Certified Guitar Player” title by Mr. Guitar himself, Chet Atkins.

Tickets for the Saturday night show are sold by four, five or eight-person tables, so grab a couple friends, or several and get your tranquility on. “Face coverings and/or masks are strongly encouraged when indoors or social distancing is difficult!,” at this downtown St. Petersburg venue.

Tommy Emmanuel, CGP. Friday, May 14. 8 p.m. $50. Jannus Live, St. Petersburg. jannuslive.com
