You’d think that following the death of Kim Simmonds last year, surviving members of the current iteration of Savoy Brown might struggle to find a new gig. Luckily, Floridian bluesman Sean Chambers recently invited the English blues-rock outfit’s final rhythm section—made up of bassist Pat DeSalvo and drummer Garnet Grimm—to back him up.

Ahead of a yet-to-be-announced fall European tour, the power trio performs at under the Skipperdome. this weekend. Don’t be too shocked if there are any salutes to Simmonds, or Chicago guitar great Hubert Sumlin (former right-hand man to Howlin’ Wolf) who initially gave Chambers his big break as part of his touring band in 1998.
