Georgia-based indie pop group of Montreal has been vocal about where it stands on issues. The group—which returns to Ybor City on Friday—openly supports Ukraine, Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Neil Young’s decision to pull his music from Spotify.

As for musical styles, its latest album, I Feel Safe With You, Trash continues on the tradition of sounding like Brian Wilson’s newer material, just with more electronic beats.

Being from the Peach State, Kevin Barnes and friends are not unfamiliar with Florida, having last performed in Tampa Bay in 2019, over at Orpheum. Three years later, of Montreal is shaking it up a bit by stopping into Crowbar for the first time since 2015.
