Mike Love Not to be confused with the veteran Beach Boy, this Mike Love hails from Hawaii, has natty blonde dreadlocks hanging past his ass, and pushes posi-vibing message-laden roots reggae that touches on anything from animal cruelty and his vegan lifestyle (“Earthlings”) to environmentalism (“Step Lightly”) to more personal reflections of love and family (“Advaya's Song”). He’s self-released a few albums through his own Love Not War Records; the last was 2015’s Love Will Find a Way. (Murray Studio Theatre, Clearwater)
TFO Rock: The Police Experience The Police gets the symphonic treatment during this last Rock Concert presentation of the season, which finds The Florida Orchestra backing a full rock band in a program of Police songs that touch on “Every Breathe You Take,” “Roxanne” and more. Beatles Tribute w/Iris Calling/Matthew Haley/Joseph Bonfiglio Femme-led alt folk trio Iris Calling re-teams with Hideaway Café to present another tribute night with singer-songwriters Matthew Haley and Joseph Bonfiglio. This time around, all three performers pay their dues to The Beatles, delivering sets of songs by the Fab Four interspersed with their own original material. Ska's Not Dead Brass-busted ska-punk is alive and kicking in the F-L-A. This free Friday night lineup touches on three fine Sunshine State purveyors (Tallahassee’s Chilled Monkey Brains, Clearwater quintet Victims of Circumstance, and Sarasota-brewed Sketchie) as well as a hard-touring outfit from upstate New York – Mrs. Skannotto. Kayzo with G*Buck Hayden Capuozzo is the emerging Los Angeles-based DJ/producer otherwise known as Kayzo, and he peddles EDM full of high-frequency synthesizer whirrs, bleeps and effects, vocal splices and samples, and big bass-busting beats. (Orpheum, Ybor City)
