St. Petersburg’s Lakewood United Church of Christ turns into a time machine this weekend, and it’s all Evan Kinney’s fault.

The Kennesaw, Georgia native has played old-time music since he was a kid raised on the sounds of 1920s artists like John Dilleshaw, The Skillet Lickers and Earl Johnson. Kinney brings guitarist and 78 RPM collector Van Burchfield along for this show that’s a must-attend for fans of that old jazz, ragtime and Dixieland sound. A workshop is even available if you’re into both learning and listening.

Evan Kinney w/Van Burchfield. Sat. Aug 17, 7 p.m. (workshop at 4 p.m.) $20-$30. Lakewood United Church of Christ, St. Petersburg. lakewooducc.org.
