Defeated Sanity is a month away from embarking on a US tour, which includes a stop at Tampa’s Orpheum.

The German death metal group—which hasn’t been to town since a 2016 gig at the late, great Pegasus Lounge—dropped a new album last year called Chronicles of Lunacy, which its Bandcamp page describes as a return to its headbanger roots after years of “infusing old-school death metal with jazzy chaos and the technical precision of a classical composer.”

Founding drummer Lille Gruber actually just released a drum playthrough of the record’s second-to-last track “Condemned to Vascular Famine,” so if you’re more of an air-drummer at gigs than an air-guitar whiz, you have some time to get your practice in before him and the band share the bill for Columbus metal band Sanguisugabogg, among a plethora of others.
