During the band’s origin, Clemens Rehbein of Milky Chance was rooted in the high school jazz ensemble for which he played bass. We’re not blaming DJ Philipp Dausch for what happened next, but the pair went on to get famous on the back of songs like surprise viral YouTube hit “Stolen Dance,” which perfectly encapsulates the German pop duo’s love of reggae-tinged, electronica-infused indie music that is the hallmark of Milky Chance’s 2013 debut, Sadnecessary.
The boys will keep this Wednesday-night show much more interesting if they lean on some of the more Latin and Afro-pop flavors from a 2017 LP, Blossom, but we’re willing to bet that the Milky Chance’s flip-flopped fans will dance to whatever the band plays while onstage during this Ybor City gig.
Milky Chance, Wed. Oct. 10, 7 p.m. $30 & up. The Ritz, 1503 E. 7th Ave., Ybor City. ticketmaster.com.
