For some, opera is out of reach. For most, a cocktail is not.

The St. Petersburg Opera Company wants to use the latter to assist in your understanding of the former when it stages a 90-minute Cocktails With Maestro program in the Iberian Rooster basement. Thurs. March 21, SubCentral at Iberian Rooster, 475 Central Ave. N., St. Petersburg. 6 p.m. stpeteopera.com.
