Death metal giant Deicide plays a hometown show in Ybor City which knows founding members drummer Steve Asheim and bassist-vocalist Glen Benton—the last two original members from the late-’80s inception—well.
Denton was in hot water in 2018 over a homophobic slur he used in a spat with Slipnot's Corey Taylor, but has since called the incident a learning experience. It’s been two years since the controversial band has played the Ybor venue—and three years since the release of a new album—so expect a greatest hits show with a lot of blasphemy and buddying up to Satan (our kind of Thursday).
Deicide w/Kataklysm/Internal Bleeding/Begat the Nephilim. Thursday, Aug. 5, 7 p.m. $25-$50. The Orpheum, Ybor City. eventbrite.com
