Hootie and the Blowfish has announced a 43-date North American tour starting this summer, and its third to last show is happening at Tampa’s MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.

Tickets to see Hootie and the Blowfish at Tampa’s Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Thursday, Sept. 26 go on sale to the general public this Friday and start at $57. A presale exclusive to Citi cardholders and fan club members started today at noon, and will continue until Thursday at 10 p.m.

The last time the band that graced us with “Only Wanna Be with You” was in Tampa together (Darius Rucker played solo at Palm Harbor’s Valspar earlier this year) was on its “Group Therapy tour,” which went down the last summer before COVID-19 hit. Barenaked Ladies opened that gig and even joined the headliners onstage for a cover of “With a Little Help from My Friends.” Well, Joe Cocker’s rendition, anyway.

This time around, the opening slot goes to fellow alt-rock outfit Collective Soul, whose latest album Vibrating was supposed to be the second disc of 2019’s Blood, before the double album idea was shot down by management.

Singer-songwriter Edwin McCain—whose song “See The Sky Again” appeared in “Twister” in 1996—opens for both bands.
