Flipturn, hands down, was our favorite Floridian find at this month’s Gasparilla Music Festival.

The young quintet — whose members' ages combined still don’t reach 100 — mostly call north Florida home thanks to enrollment at University of Florida, Santa Fe College and the University of North Florida, but the group regularly visits the Bay area, which bodes well for fans of Morrissey and The Heartless Bastards who’ll be drawn to the way Flipturn can turn its appreciation for radio-ready bands like Two Door Cinema Club and Cage The Elephant into indie-pop that feels more authentic than a lot of what’s on the airwaves these days.

Glass House Point and another CL fave, Garden Club, are on the bill for this tour kickoff show at Crowbar.

Flipturn w/Glass House Point/Garden Club. Thurs. March 21. Crowbar, Ybor City. crowbarybor.com.
