Sure, the Florida State Fair has rainbow grilled cheese sandos this year, but we’re excited for the SPAM cook-off and general shenanigans that are all set to go down at the hands of the Tampa Bay Ukulele Society, which is staging its free-to-fairgoers Uka-Palooza on Saturday. Expect uke beginner’s workshops, bands, a uke petting zoo, jam session and a performance from world-renowned uke-meister James Hill (who is also teaching a separate ticketed workshop earlier in the day).

Uka-Palooza. Sat. Feb. 9, Charles M. Davis Special Events Center at Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 N. U.S. Hwy 301, Tampa. Time 10 a.m.-7 p.m. floridastatefair.com.
