Tampa Bay songwriter Jeremy Gloff seems to be friends with everyone (unless you’re on his shit list), but the 43-year-old’s connection with Bay area filmmaker (and occasional CL contributor) Michael M. Sinclair just earned the Gloffster a nomination for Best Documentary at this weekend’s Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival (TBUFF).

The duo met at St. Petersburg’s since-shuttered Venture Compound through a mutual friend (Richard Smyth of Bay area punk band Abortion Twins) and ended up working on a video for Gloff’s track “Forest Fires.” The partnership unfolded into five videos and the Moments of Euphoria mini-doc, which explores how Lightrail — a Gloff album that was supposed to be a fun, summery pop record — went off the tracks and then righted itself as the year leading up to the release unfolded. Videos by five Bay area directors — including Sinclair, Cole Carbone, Vincent J Kral and Jake Whitney — are included in the film along with cameos by nearly a dozen personalities from the artistic community.

The nom is a coup for Sinclair, who has managed to find time to direct music videos despite fixing his gaze on creating short films like MUSE, which stars Alexa Toro of another Bay area band, Flow Sisters.

The documentary screens at TBUFF on Saturday, December 8 at 3:25 p.m. More information on the festival, which happens South of Gandy at the Britton 8 Theaters, is available via tbuff.org. If you’re anti-social, then you can watch the film below.
