As long as they keep coming, I'll keep calling 'em one of the best live bands in the Southeast. The ATL's Five Eight have been bringing the sweat, rock and personality to Bay area clubs for, what, 15 years now? The group has weathered lineup changes, label woes and the changing tides of indie-rock trends, and in '04 put out the best album of its career, a self-titled salvo of completely original rock 'n' roll hooks. If you haven't seen 'em, there's just no excuse at this point, and if you've seen 'em a dozen times, well, then you know you're gonna go see 'em again. Mike, Mike and Dan will be supported by the recently reactivated twang-rock unit Hangtown and Tampa's own contemplative-yet-muscular supergroup Zillionaire.
