One of the most distinct voices in the Bay area music scene belongs to Kristopher James, but the songwriter is joined by Mike Hicks who knows a thing or two about signature vocal sounds for his latest single, “Feelings,” released last month.

Hicks plays keys for Rascal Flatts and dropped some gospel-tinged voicings on the cut, but he isn’t the only person who lent a left and right hand to the song. The track also features saxophone for local composer extraordinaire Ronnie Dee and Justin Powell who put down some blue toned horn in the verses before setting his trumpet to bloom on the bridge. James plays a free show in Seminole Heights on Sunday alongside Mountain Holler (aka Mark Etherington, who’s visiting home after heading west early this year).
