The future of tech-rock is going to be in Ybor City this week when the second year of the Super CHON Bros. Tour rolls into town. A SoCal band of soundsmiths — CHON — has tapped two rising instrumental rock acts, TTNG and Polyphia, to open this show along with extremely harmonic, Japanese export Tricot, which just might be the secret weapon on this entire bill.

Tricot's latest — 3 (released on Topshelf Records) — is a prime example of the quartet's gift for stacking jazzy pop harmonies on top of arrangements that are mind-bogglingly complex. The band has already opened for The Pixies and toured several continents, so we're expecting to see Tricot headlining a show in Tampa Bay sooner than later. Listen to the effort below.

CHON w/Polyphia/TTNG/Tricot. Sat. June 2, 5:30 p.m. $20-$25. The Ritz, 1503 E. 7th Ave., Ybor City. INFO
