It wasn’t terribly long ago that Lukas Nelson was still playing with his dad and the Family, which just graced a stage on the other side of Tampa Bay earlier this month.

He did end up departing the band last year to focus on this project, and it might have been one of his smartest moves ever. Lukas’ new album Sticks and Stones contains plenty of twangy vocals and lyrics about crossing alcohol with church and entering the wrong house while stoned out of his mind. He even brought Lainey Wilson onboard to duet on “More Than Friends.”

Tickets to see Lukas Nelson & The Promise of the Real at St. Pete’s Jannus Live on Monday, Oct. 30 are still available and cost $26.
