Morgan Freeman, is shown from the chest up, laughing with his head tilted back slightly. He has a gray and white beard, and deep wrinkles around his eyes, which are squinted in his smile. He's wearing a black tuxedo jacket, a white collared shirt, and a black bow tie. He has a small gold earring in his left ear. A black baseball cap sits on his head. The background is a soft beige color with blurred logos, including "SAG-AFTRA" and "tbs." He's holding a silver-colored statuette, which is mostly out of frame on the right side.

God is coming to Tampa Bay, or at least the closest guy we’ve got.

The Florida Orchestra hasn’t announced its celebrity gala event for this season yet, but Morgan Freeman is bringing his own traveling “Symphonic Blues Experience” to downtown St. Petersburg later this month.

The 88-year-old Hollywood legend, who grew up in Mississippi (and was alive for a year at the same time as Delta blues legend Robert Johnson) will kick off the night with an in-person introduction, which will precede an evening of pre-recorded folklore to go along with a diverse variety of classic blues material.

Joining God and The Florida Orchestra at the Mahaffey Theater will be a handful of musicians who have performed at his Mississippi-based Ground Zero Blues Club, so don’t think for a second that authenticity levels will be low.

Tickets to see Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience at St. Pete’s Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts-Mahaffey Theater on Thursday, Sept. 25 are still available and start at $55.
